Emeergency brake frozen...fixes?
#11
Let the car idle for a few minutes...the exhaust thaws out the cable near the brake assembly. Happen to me last winter after a snow storm...my brakes were smoking in the rear! I was told don't use it during the winter when the bottom of the car gets wet.

how long did you wait? like 10 mins or an hour?

I have this same problem, and I've resigned myself to just parking in gear for the rest of the winter and replacing the cables come spring...
I have to wonder if packing the new cables with grease better would help keep water out?

So far, I haven't had any trouble with the e-brake. The car sits in the driveway on a slight incline, so I do put it in 1st gear and pull up the e-brake.
When I start the car up, I let it warm up for about 5 minutes especially on a cold day before I drive off.

well, mine is sticking for some other reason besides ice, as it spends most of the time in my garage and it rarely gets below freezing here. I figure its just seizing up cause maybe the cables are dried up.
