Tell her that the stock one is broken and the car won't start without it lol 
If she doesn't believe you, you might have to pull the fuel pump relay and then try to start the car in front of her. That might cause some problems for you if its your everyday car because you might not be able to go to work for a couple days until she gives in hahaha.

since im a kid i know how to slip through the loop holes, here r some tricks to try:
1. cost (cost less than a GT)
2. guilt (do something impressive: she'll want to repay u)
3. like someone else said ( it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission)
4. car broke ("its in the shop cuz the intake broke and i need a new one, so since this is just a little bit more i think its a steal!)
5. Plan Z (screw it; 1 life to live and like Nike says: Just DO It)

well, everyone's situation is different, but my wife was well aware that I was a gear-head before she married me, so it was no surprise to her that I wanted to modify the stang, as I've never left any of my cars stock. If that's the case with you, just tell her that you have a "vision" for your car and the sc is the primary part of your vision. tell her that once you've fulfilled your vision, you won't spend anymore money on the car (total lie of course). then again, if you weren't gear-head before owned the stang, the "vision" thing will likely not work. If that's the case, I'd go with the "cheaper than a GT" argument.
