Default What are my options for a rearview mirror that has an outside temp read?

I own a 2009 Mustang GT and my biggest complaint about the car is the rearview mirror does not have a outside temp read! Can a mirror with this feature from another Ford car be swapped? I'm sure there are a lot of you that probably have done this swap and I'd like to know what my cheapest and easiest option is. If I can find a mirror from the bone yard that will be better than buying a brand new $300 mirror from an online store. Thanks, David

Look for one out of a Grand Marquis or Crown Vic at the junkyard. Most of these are pretty universal. There are some on ebay for under $200.

Well that was going to be my next question, what about the sensor and wiring? On my other car, the sensor is in front of the rad. I was wondering if everything is hardwired and you just need to need to add the sensor and mirror? But from the sounds of it, I'd have to run the wire from the headliner to a remote spot on the outside of the car? I'm hoping Ford ran the wire and was just to cheap to add the sensor and mirror but I'm guessing not.

You can tap in power from the dome lights in the headlines, but for the sensor you will have to run your own wire.

98 Suburban worked for me
Compass and temp deal.
$20 with the goodies from the bone yard and I had all I needed.

Don't forget to grab the temp sensor, located on the radiator support...
And the plastic rails that hide the wiring from the mirror to the headliner.
See picture...

You can get one built for the Mustang from the dealership... Even though most everyone hates the dealership

Default Mirror

I have the mirror with the outside temp and compass. I forget the brand, but I just did an internet search and found it.
One of the best mods I have done, I freakin' love it. It is also self dimming.
