i think i will do the heat gun method to avoid chemicals if possible. thanks again for the help everyone.

I have the Lund headlight covers and unfortunately they don't have stickers! The name is etched on there! Had to sand it off, but that made it stick out so I used a felt tip pen and it looks okay.
I don't know how one of the previous poster's covers fell off! The Lund ones are impossible to remove without opening the hood and prying them off!

be careful with the heat gun it will melt and warp the cover, just let it set in the sun or use a hairdrier
