That's right, but even if you have the same overall diameter 20s look bigger than 18s.

I wish I had a set of 17" rims identical to my 18" bullitts. IMO, smaller rims looks more like what a Mustang is. Larger rims evoke thoughts of "pimp-mobile", "thug", and "trying a little too hard". But this must be a regional thing. Here in NC, you only see the black guys with the huge rims all chromed out, but on my trips to CA, I notice A LOT of chrome wagon wheels...way too many for my taste. Out there I rarely saw an SUV or truck without chrome 22's or 24's.

Remember, it's not a crime to have a little sidewall on a Mustang tire ;-)

Well.... I purchased my 20's two years ago thinking that they looked great and the industry would come around and lower tire prices being that many new vehicles sported 19-20'' wheels/tires.

This still hasn't happened and sporting 19/20's is just hurting your performance/pocketbook at this point.

they are physically performance degrading wheels and tire prices are STILL extremely over-rated. I went back to 18's for both reasons.

It's not like I'm riding on rubber bands with my 20s. 22s on the other hand are a little too big for me and barely any sidewall without increasing the overall diameter.

I would have regretted buying 18s instead of my 20s even if performance would be improved. They just look too good!!!

Also, I took my 20s to the track on Wednesday an posted a 13.775 @ 102 mph. Before my 20s I would post 13.690-13.710 @ 105 mph (with an all time best of 13.540 on a particularly perfect night) with my stock 17s. The difference between the 2 is that I get traction off the line with the 20s and faster 3rd and 4th gears with the 17s. I thought that with the 20s I would be 14+ in the 1/4, but that was proven wrong. Daily driving does have a noticeable difference in acceleration, but it doesn't make me regret the 20s at all. Like I said, the just look to awesome to give up!

On the original topic, I think that the wheels will fit, but only time will tell. I'm also glad that Ford is offering many more choices for the new stangs. People can pick and choose what they want...style or performance...or both with the supercharger!

ya know.... i needed new tires and started researching... there were no 305+ tires for 20's so that ruled it out. I wanted to allow this car to launch as well as it could so I started investigating. for every 1# you remove from rotating weight it accounts for 6#'s of total weight.

So I swapped my 20'' shelby razors (VERY lightweight 20's BTW I found) for 18x9.5'' Steeda ultralites.

The 20'' had 255/35-20's up front and 275/35-20's out back on 20x9'' rims.

With the new Steeda utralites, I now have 275/40-18
s up front (with a <1# per wheel diff from the 20x9 and 255/35's) and 305/35-18 rear (with a <2# per wheel diff from the 20x9 and 275/35's rear).

However, now it feels as though I'm rolling on STEAMROLLERS!!! Handling, along with traction is MUCH MUCH MUCH improved.

That would be the only thing that would get me to stay away. The car is a DD and spending huge amounts for sticky tires would be enough to kill it.

If these dont work out or I decide I cant wait for traction I will end up with 18" wheels as the 20's look just a little too large for my taste.

Just have to wait and see.

I will say though that the styling of the new cars works a little better on the GT500, but I still prefer the 05-09 body style.

I knew that but look wise the wheel wells would look better filled in with a little more rim than 18's and more tire than 20's!! Therefore i think 19's would be perfect combo...

I always thought that the 19's on the PJ were the perfect size rims for our car, but I never found anything I fell in love with that was reasonably priced, so I'm hoping that they start producing all of the replica wheels in our offset in 19" sizes. If so, I'll be buying a new set of rims...
