special hangers?
In 2007, Ford changed the style of exhaust hanger used to install the stock exhaust on the new S197 Mustangs. They switched from a "rubber and steel" hanger design to an "all rubber" hanger, which will not work correctly with the after-market cat-back exhaust systems on the market.
The Pypes 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hangers will allow you to install any 2005+ after-market cat-back correctly on a 2007 or newer Ford Mustang. We recommend that you add this to your order from the drop-down menu when you purchase your cat-back or axle-back exhaust.
The above statement is on americanmuscle.com under the exhaust secion. how accurate is this? i posted earlier about boomtubes on a 07 making lots of noise, grinding, squealing, and thumping. would this fix it?

not sure about the boom tubes but I know that the pypes straight pipe muffler deletes (essentially poor mans boom tubes) fitment was horrible, one side did not even line up and the other was just as bad, most likely designed for 05-07s but not the 08s possibly? I had to get new hangers welded in place. I guess it could be an issue for other after market axle backs, who knows..
