Default Question about cashing in extended warranty

Well I will be getting a supercharger this spring after I go to a Army school in Virginia. I will be voiding the warranty anyways with it so I was wondering if I should contact the local dealer or ford directly. Are they more easily to give it to me or are they going to try and steer me away from cashing it in. Its a 75,000 7 year warranty and its 1800 dollars I believe. Thanks for the responses in advance... John

Why do you think you are voiding your warranty??

Well I know not the whole warranty but the engine warranty... and thats the most important part (Drivetrain) so if something goes wrong in 2 years I'll just suck it up and pay for it...

You will not void it just by adding something like a SC on it. Ford would have to prove that the SC caused the failed part to fail before declined coverage on that said repair, they cannot just cancel the contract. I worked for Ford for years and know how the game is played!

So you think when the tranny goes out and he has a 470 HP supercharger installed they are going to just replace it without a battle??

While most of the time i agree with the whole "ford cant void your warranty" thing. Adding a s/c or turbo and expecting Ford to replace parts when they fail is quite a stretch and not worth the battle.

I say cash it out and use it to help pay for the s/c. When you break something look at it as a reason to "upgrade" that part as it obviously cant handle the power and may just break again anyway.

Goto your dealer and ask for the F & I manager, he will go over the whole cash out process with you.
