In a previous post I told you that I had a flat which was attributed to a bad valve stem, and possibly a problem with the car wash track. No big deal stuff does happen...However..My Mustang is not my DD and has been covered up since the day it happened and was fixed. My husband went out to clear the snow yesterday and took a look at the repair... it was fine, however... all 3 others are showing the same wear and tears around the base of the valve stem!!! Certainly not a healthy way to be driving.
SO I called the dealer today and made an appointment. Obviously the rest will need replacing, which will have to be done whether it is under warranty (which i will fight for) or not. Never heard of such a thing happening with tires.
Has anyone else had a similar issue with the LONG valve stems that FORD used on their 18" polished Aluminum bulletts?
Now I have to check my Dad's Stang as well. He has the stock rims.

There was a national recall on valve stems about 6 months or more ago. It wasn't only Ford. If I remember correctly, faulty valve stems show visual signs of rubber degradation along the stem and/or at the rim. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have seen this alot in the past year with Toyota. We had alot of cars coming in for tire leaks, techs were not finding anything in the tires so as a precaution anytime we had a customer that complained of a leak that we could not find we replaced the valve stem.
