CAI Install guide?
 

I am about to get a C&L CAI combo kit from Bamachips for my 2009 mustang. I am nowhere near a mechanical person and haven't done anything with cars in the past but am looking forward to learning how to do some stuff myself.

I am looking for a visual guide if anyone has one that includes pictures and explanations of the install including what tools are needed. Thanks all

My JLT from brenspeed came with a picture sheet for install. To remove the stock airbox, you need a flat head head screwdriver which you will use to loosen the hose clamp on the throttle body. Then you will use either a t-25 or t-27 torx bit to remove the maf sensor. i forget which size works. Then you will use a 10mm socket with extension to remove the one bolt holding the stock airbox to the body. Installation of the C&L should be similar but in reverse and should not require any other tools besides maybe a phillips head screwdriver.

When I ordered my Steeda CAI/tune from Brenspeed I had the same thoughts going through my mind. I'm 16 years old so this WAS the first thing ever installing myself on any car. (Yeah I know I'm very lucky to be driving this car at this age.) Anyways, the kit came with instructions on how to uninstall the stock air box and install the new intake. I had a K&N filter in there before so I had to kind of guess a little bit but it was more or less just common sense on what to remove and what not to remove. Anyways, the install of the intake is so much easier than it seems. If I remember correctly I needed a flat head, ratchet and a few sockets. You only need basic tools. But take my word, mechanical or not, it's a simple, easy install.

I also got my CAI and Tune from Breenspeed and am not a mechanical person, nor ever worked on any car/engine in the past. I do admit, it was pretty simple, the instructions that comes with the CAI & Tuner are very self explanatory. This is a great buy for our Mustangs, good luck and enjoy. You will definitely notice a significant difference.

If you can't do it once you look at it, you should be shot. It is about the easiest mod you can ever do aside from filling up with higher octane gas.

I've done a few now and they are super easy, I would recommend:

1. Open box.
2. Locate instructions.
3. Read instructions.
4. Unpack and lay out parts in front of you.
5. Read instructions again.
6. Make sure you have all tools.
7. Read instructions again.

You should then be good to go.... if it's taking more than an hour then your probably stuck so just refer to the instructions they will be really good and realistically even not being much of a motor head you should be able to do it in 30-45 minutes....

go look under your hood when you get the chance and just do a little studying. look at your stock stuff and see what kind of tool it requires. as many have said. its easy. luckily i am mech. inclined but even if you are not you can do this install.

here's installation instructions for airaid's cai (not sure if you have a v6 or gt, so i included both); the steps for what you have to do should be nearly identical. and, as mentioned, cai installs are about the easiest thing to do so you shouldn't have any problems :cool:
