No, don't do it!

It's a shame to blacken out such nice rims! Plus the spokes are thin and won't give a full blacked out look,
I think just painting the black strip where all the bolts are Screaming Yellow would be cool. Just not too much yellow, as you don't want to overwhelm the chrome.

But before spending a cent on that (or on wider tires, which you should at least wait until after our short rainy season is over!) you really need to upgrade the disks brakes! The rears especially look way too small now, and with more rubber on the road a brake upgrade is really needed.

Keep as is and I like the powder coating idea for the rims! (which I do like!)

JMO, but I like either the all black look or having the face of the wheel blacked out with a polished lip
