Remember this is a mustang, not a 350/370. Even though it has a V6 it still is weighing a crap ton, and the V6 isn't helping it. The V8 in the GT is the only reason that the weight is semi-offset as a disadvantage.

Also note that anything you do to your car that is aftermarket probably won't be covered by your insurance unless you inform them of the modifications, "if" they choose to cover your modifications your looking at a insurance hike as well.

Your not going to get accurate rates online for insurance as a kid, there ARE way to many variables, you need to either call or go into places in person and speak with agents.

I pay $1500 every 6 months for full coverage on a GT (08) and i am 19 (almost 20). I have state farm. They have so many random discounts they have worked in it's not even funny. Somehow it's cheaper for me to run like life insurance each month and pay that, and it offers me more of a discount and i save more then not paying it. It makes no since but it lowers my rates which is all i care about. So basically i get free life insurance and receive a discount on my car insurance.

If you have taken a driver's course most insurance companies knock a good chunk off for that as well.

Another thing to consider as well is the year of the car, i wouldn't be suprised if the rates were the same/near/or less if you compared a 08/09 v6 to a 05 GT.
Who cares if he doesn't the fastest V6, at 17 the last thing he needs is a V6 with a S/C or a GT. Regarding insurance, I believe NJ has one of the highest insurance rates.

If you are asking a Forum for V6 vs GT advice,
it indicates that you are on a V6 level and
should get some pavement behind you before
going for the GT.
Or pull up your pants and jump into the GT,
price, insurance and all. It only takes $$ to
get what YOU want.
