You don't want to slide it out of gear on the down rpm. Your synchros are less likely to disengage when you're slowing the car while in gear and you don't want to disengage with power applied (bad). I only slide it out of gear while in a steady powerband and use my brakes to slow the car. Takes practice I guess.

it seems that between 800-900 rpm is the best place to pull out of gear with out the clutch everywere else gets resistance. if there is resistance... dont do it. as said before if it sounds/ feels bad, it is.

Not if your throttle is closed the injectors at that point are almost shut off.

Strictly speaking, yes.

But in practical terms of the amount of extra fuel used it doesn't amount to much. One estimate of the extra fuel used might be about 4 cc per double-clutch downshift, counting the brief acceleration enrichments plus the extra fuel used by the higher revs. That's 0.00106 gallon, so every 944th time you do this, you've finally managed to use up an extra gallon.

when i try to rev match and with the clutch in and the shifter in neutral, you almost have to floor the gas pedal to get the rpms to come up past 2k. but then when i leave it in gear and give it gas the rpms shoot right up like normal. it has been like this with both my gt s197's so i thought this was normal. but now hearing ya'll talk about this i am beginning to think something is up?
i know the drive by wire plays a part in this but is something wrong?

if i don't get the rev's up to the right range, i'll just double blip the throttle. but i just use the brakes, no real sense in downshifting at every opportunity. sure, in emergency situations on the highway at 70 and some guy cuts you off you can get out of that sticky situation with a snap in the gears.
