Hey Guys,

I heard my engine kicking on something this morning. I opened the hood and saw the driver's side bottom spindle on the serpentine belt kicking on or off. I have never noticed this before. Is this normal or a sign that something is about break.

I have heard the clicking on sound it makes before but never is such a quick repeating pattern.

That is the air conditioner compressor clutch turning on and off.

That is odd. I didn't have my AC on.

Do you know why it kicks on and off like that? Shouldn't it just be on or off depending on if I have AC running or not, not kicking on and off like the video?

If you have your defroster on, the window position, the A/C compressor
toggles. In the winter, I pull the A/C fuse, or relay that controls the
clutch so it doesn't do that. Even if you have the heat on, buy you have
the blower on with the vent in the window position, some cars, the
A/C compressor comes on, AND, the fan will keep running. Mine does...

Yep. Compressor cycles even with a.c. off.

The A/C actually removes moisture from the air... you get better defogging if you are blowing dry air at the windows rather than moist air.

It actually is supposed to prolong the life of the compressor and seals. Cycling keeps things "flexible" and prolongs the seal life. Or at least that is what I have heard.

It's a complete and total loss, sell the car. Engine is going to blow up and take the A/C with it......

All cars/trucks operate that way. Maybe get a motorcycle?

Kind of long delay in a response....

It just kicks on and off all the time so I worried a sensor was out. I haven't heard it kick on on off all the time like I do on the mustang so that is why it concerned me.

I do have a motorcycle. haha.
