Default Fuel System...need help

I have had my 06 GT for 2+ years....and in the last 2 months my car has randomly shut off 4 times. The common symptoms are always the following:

SYMPTOMS- happens when the car is just started (regardless of being cold or warm)
- when i depress the gas pedal...RPMs don't go up
- sounds like car isn't getting gas and will not stay on for more than 5 seconds
- No DTC's appear when looking on my hand held tuner (SCT via Breenspeed)
- After I let the car sit...it will star up after 10 min

I am confident that this has something to do with the fuel system...just not sure how to pinpoint the problem...any suggestions

you might be right and it might
be fuel related, but while reading
your post, i couldn't help but think
it is throttle body related somehow.

when you press the gas pedal, the
pcm opens up the throttle plate letting
in more air, this is what raises the
rpms....

maybe someone else might have some
other ideas for you.

the fact that it has to sit for awhile
before it will start, kinda leads me to
think it gets flooded...

I believe it is some sort of electrical problem related to the fuel system....because of the irregularity.

How do you go about troubleshooting the electrical components of the fuel system?

FYI - the fuel pump relay fuse looks good

This probably is not the answer to your problem, but it's quick and inexpensive. Try adding a bottle or two of gasoline water remover containing ISOPROPYL alcohol to your gas (e.g. Iso-HEET). If you're lucky, it's just some water in the gasoline tank. If you're not lucky, adding the Iso-HEET didn't do any harm and you're only out about $3.

I had this issue on my diesel F250, talk to your dealer and see if they have had any cam phaser issues.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what would cause my RPM's not go up when pressing down on the gas pedal?....this last for about 3-5 seconds....before the car cuts off

If your fuel pump fuse was broke it would not start period. I doubt it's a fuel issue. If it was a fuel issue it would happen more often and not as irregular.

When our cars are first started they are in a "cold based" timing table and the fuel curves and timing curves are different than what they are when the car has been warmed up.

To diagnosis your problem youneed to datalog the car while you start it and have the car duplicate the problem. Send the dat log to a reputable tuner and he can look at and tell you exactly what is happening. The datalog will contain everything needed for any tuner who knows what he is doing to diagnosis and solve your issue. It may not be a tune related issue, but what happens to the car when it dies can be seen on the datalog.

If I were to guess at what the problem is I would look at the throttle body and the TPS sensor. The OEM units don't seem to go bad very often but you never know.

What mods are on your car. That always helps us too.

Thanks for the feedback Simon....

I have CAI/SCT (running 93 Breenspeed tune). In terms of related maintenace...i have done the following:

1. Replace fuel filter with WIX filter (do I need to switch back to motorcraft)
2. Replaced the fuel pump at 5K due to TSB (problem started at 16K...shouldn't be related)
3. Added Techron injection cleaner into gas tank at 15K
4. Cleaned the throttle body with TB cleaner at 15K (didn't remove the TB...cleaned with a rag)

Not sure if any of the above would contribute to my issue....but any feedback is welcomed.

None of the above should have anything to do with it. More than likely it is going to be an electronic issue. Throttle pedal, throttle body motor, or throttle position sensor.
