Yeah, it's amazing how well the crumple zones work. But it makes it almost certain that a Mustang will be totalled in a moderate accident.

I agree that the motor is almost certainly hosed. My wife rear-ended a wrecker in her van, she was going about 8 mph. Didn't even pop the airbag, but it DID crack the block! Might be able to use the ICAP and IUP out of it, but there's probably not much else that survived. The suspension is gutted!

Just goes to show you that some people shouldn't have anything with more power than a 1978 Pacer with 2 plug wires pulled.

This why I'm going to get a sticker for my vehicles that says "Ban low performance drivers not high performance cars"

==I paid cash for mine but would never consider leaving it without full coverage.==

WAAAY too risky not having insurance. Especially here in Texas where it seems the majority of idiots that drive around smashing into others do not have insurance. The ones that don't have it are the ones who really do not seem to care about their actions.

I would wager that a lot of these '05 wrecks are people pushing this car beyond their abilities as drivers. It's a dangerous ride for people not accustomed to some serious power at their command and/or a good knowledge of the car's handling.
There is a red one in my town, about 2 weeks after they got it we saw it at the body shop with front end smashed in.
Yep, It was a teenager.

LOL

The weekend I pick up my Pony I have to drive nearly 900 miles home and I know I am going to be paranoid despite the fact that I consider myself a decent driver. I treat my cars like beautiful women, you have to caress them, get to know their bodies, how they move, what they respond to and after you know that like it's 2nd nature, then you let 'em have it, giving them all you got.

Maybe the guy's an idiot and uninsurable. There are lots of those buying fast cars. He can part it out and maybe get 10% of the value back. Maybe he has learned some physics?

ORIGINAL: 05SonicBlue

a little bondo and paint and she'll be as good as new, no?

I can't fathom why anyone would buy a new car and NOT have full coverage, isn't it even cheaper when it's on a paid off car??? Atleast he walked away from it.

Why would anyone that had enoough money to pay $30K for a new car not have full coverage. I paid cash for mine but would never consider leaving it without full coverage. Hindsight is 20/20. Geez Louise.
Exactly what I was thinking. Who is going to pay cash for a vehicle, especially a $25k + vehicle, and then only get liability. Something smells fishy ... Too bad he isn't up around Illinois, our buddy that sells the factory 6 speed GTs that have been wrecked and he resells them as new could pick it up.

Wonder if the guy would sell me the cam covers
