87 & 93 Octane Tunes - Thoughts

87 & 93 Octane Tunes - Thoughts
I have two questions. I originally purchased my CAI and three tunes (87, 89 &93) from Brenspeed. From day one of installation I've only run an 93 octane tune (both Brenspeed & Bama race).
1) Has anyone compared the 87 and 93 tunes. Is the higher octane giving that much more performance?
2) I'm in central Illinois and the weather this winter sucks. It seems to be continually snowing and bitter cold. The roads are either covered with snow, packed snow, ice, or water (salt solution actually). You cannot go fast and I certainly don't want to go joy riding. It seems that any extra performance from 93 octane fuel is wasted. Should I be running the 87 octane until spring? Chime in, especially cold weather people.
(I'm not really concerned about the extra cost of 93 oct - I'm just frustrated with this weather and not being able to enjoy my salt-caked GT)
Signed,

I put my CAI on at the peak of $4 gas, and except for one tank of 93, I ran 89 because I was pissed about $4 gas.... lol. At the time, I didn't seem to feel a dif between the two, but I may have been influenced by not wanting to pay .30-.40 more gallon.
Anyway, went to Brenspeed during the fall dynoday and was a bit disappointed with my 275 rwhp number, thought it should have been better based on all the CAI rants. After the fact someone mentioned that I should have ran the 93 tune, so plan to do that at the spring dynoday. Unfortunately, it won't be a totally fair comparison since I have since added UDP's and will also be adding the H pipe sitting in the garage once I get my car out of winter storage.
Hopefully won't be disappointed, but maybe with the 93 tune, UDP's, and H pipe maybe another 20rwhp to 295??? BTW, the torque number was 295 I believe

I didn't get my tunes from the same place, but with 87 octane I DEFINITELY got better gas mileage than with the 93. And for those longer trips where I knew I'd be mainly highway cruising, I'd switch back to the 87 tune to get the maximum mpg.
For local driving though, it was much more fun with the 93 tune, even though it cost a little more. And of course, with a "heavier foot", gas mileage dropped a bit.
So what I'd recommend:
- if you dont need the full power of 93 octane, run 87 for awhile (esecially on trips)
- for maximum fun, stick with 93

Well my car ain't too sexy right now with all the salt caked on it. I need to get a picture so you can all cringe. It's supposed to get up to 31 deg tomorrow - it will be my number one priority to get it cleaned.

My JLT/SCT from Brenspeed should be here on Friday. I currently have a full tank of 89 octane so I'm going to upload the 89 tune first. After a few tanks I'm going to switch to the 93 tune... I'm interested to see what sort of difference (if any) that I'll feel between the two tune.
