Default Quality...............Job One??

Five monthes and three days later I picked up my GT and drove home. In the driveway I opened its mouth to admire its innards. Didn't see anything falling off. Only problem is that the hood won't close. So back to the dealer tommorrow with a roped down hood. How classy is that? If we can't make a functional hood latch makes you wonder about the rest of it. Why me god??

Are you sure you just weren't being too easy with it? I had an issue when I first got the car where I couldn't get the hood to completely close. It would still have about an inch or so of give, but after I just dropped the hood from a good three feet high it snapped close without a hitch. I was a little too gentle, because of my prior experience with my old car. I HOPE this is the only issue you have and you really don't have a bunk hood... that would really be a shame since I'm sure you've waited long enough.

Ditto!
I have to remember to drop the hood from a greater height than in the past, otherwise it won't shut.
I think it's just another Ford quirk and not quality issue.

mine hood is the same. Sounds like a common thing. It might have to do with the fact that the hood is aluminum. Which reminds me... be sure you close it by dropping from a little higher... don't try to set it down then push it closed with the palm of your hand. You are likely to dent it!

If you install the hood struts, you pretty much have to close it by hand... it won't drop anymore (except the last foot or so). I just make sure I press right on the front lip when I do it.

I'm 43 and anytime anyone refers to "five speed" (or 4 or 6) it's always been implied "manual". Otherwise, they just say "auto".
Of course I'm in the South and everyone knows we're more intuitive than the average American. (j/k, don't anyone get their panties in a wad
