Oil change

I told myself I'd stay out of it (and I'm STILL poking sharp objects in my eyes every time I open this thread) but I can't help myself. Here's my 2 cents...
If you're doing oil changes every 3,000 to 7,500 miles, using synthetic blend (as is supplied in our Stangs from the factory) and a decent oil filter is sufficient. Using synthetic may give you peace-of-mind but affords no additional protection for the additional cost.
If you put a lot of miles on and want some savings by changing your oil less frequently (at every 8,000 miles or greater), then full synthetic is the way to go. Amsoil's 0W20 is recommended for our GT's with a change frequency of 25,000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first under normal driving or 15,000 miles or 1 year under severe conditions. I use Amsoil oil and filters (their filters are rated for 25,000 miles or 1 year) but change both at 10,000 miles which I consider conservative. I've been changing my own oil for the past 36 years and I KNOW what works for me.
You need to do what works for YOU based on your own research. Most of our parents changed their dino oil every 3,000 miles. Times have changed and so has todays oil capabilities. Read and decide. It's your time and money.
Oh, I said this before and I'll say it again: black oil is NOT an indicator of bad oil.
Anyone want to borrow some sharp objects?

Your oil is your most important investment besides the initial purchase of the car.
Think of your oil like blood.
the cars come from the factory with a synthetic blend ive used synthetic in all my cars and my family's.
some advice
1. if you are **** like me and worry about having some one strip your oil plug hole in your pan then change it your self. i have heard horror stories from some quick oil change places
2. its more fun and so much cheaper to do it your self

Hey folks,
The Shelby needs fuel for the first time (dont drive her much).
Do I use the 87 octane, 89 octane or the 91 octane petrol.
The dealer filled it up for me when I bought her and she has not
need any fuel until now I am so confused as what to use.
And whats up with the green nozzle thats also available?

Curious how many quarts you guys are using?
I RTFM and it said capacity is 6 quarts.
I put in 5.5 quarts and the dipstick read full. Then I cranked the car, idled a minute, and turned it off. Re-checked the dipstick and it didn't register anything.
So I put the other .5 quart in (6 total), and the dipstick reads right in the middle.

6 quarts on the dot puts it right in the middle for me. Another 1/4 quart brought it up to the full mark.
Manual does say 6 even and NOT TO ADD ANY MORE (literally boldface type) if it's in the safe range.

it read full prior to filling beacuase there was no oil in the lines and or also in the filter. you should always fill the filter to avoid a few seconds of no oil in the motor.
put six in and that should be ok for most. most people do cold oil changes and dont let it drain completely.. I do a hot oil change making the oil drain better and faster and let it drain for about 20 minutes.. also if your lifting the car make sure its level, dont just lift the front end.
PS 157db is probably more sarcastic then my wife. It kinda hurts a little
