Exclamation 3.73 Geared Automatic Transmission Guys Step Right In! I Have Questions for You. :)

First off, if any of you have any videos of your GT automatic with 3.73's in action I would LOVE to see them. All I can find on youtube/streetfire is 4.10 videos.

Secondly, how much of a difference on the butt-dyno could you tell after installing 3.73's vs. stock 3.31? Would you recommend them or do you regret not going with 4.10's? Also, How is interstate travel with 3.73's?

and the big question... can you chirp 3rd with a bamachips/brenspeed tune with 3.73's?

Thank you for your input! I'm ready to go ahead and order a set providing good reviews ensue.

I can chirp 3rd in mine with ease. Hwy its great, 4:10's would be too much for me the way I drive on the hwy. I installed my tune,CAI, UDP's and gears the same day so it was hard for me to tell how much difference they made.

Hi,

'08 GT Automatic here. 3.73's installed.

Yeah, they're cool. Don't expect the same "oomph" feeling you got when you switched from stock tune to say, Brenspeed tune, but they do make your car faster. I was a bit disappointed, but only because I might have been expecting a bit too much.

I chirp third on occasion. If you stomp the pedal down, yeah, it'll happen (both with the bamachips and the brenspeed tune, I've had both).

Sorry, no videos. Not that cool. haha

My mileage dropped by about 1.5 to 2 mpg. I get around 17-18 now. My RPMs at 70 mph are are 2500 now when I think they were at 2000ish before, so there is a difference, but it's not huge.

All in all, you forget how awesome they are until you drive a stock mustang again and then you're like (#&*#^&*^%#&(# what did they do to this mustang?!?! haha.

If you have the money for the purchase and install (mine ran about $500), they're worth the money. Although if you have patience, you might be better off just saving for a blower.

I kind of agree with ensign lee....I thought I'd feel alot more oomph..at least from a dig. Maybe I too was expecting too much. I can chirp 3rd. 1st into 2nd does much more than chirp. From a roll there's a big difference. MPG has not changed. It got me 1.5-2 tenths at the track.

Since I do have to drive on the highway, I think 4.10's would've been too much, otherwise I would've went with 4.10's.

Here's videos of me at the track..

Very interesting to hear they didn't give as much oomph as expected.

I drive on the interstate about once a month for a 2 hour trip. Maybe 4.10's are the way to go? I want a big difference.

Thank you for the video Atlanta. Your car is incredibly beautiful

Keep em coming guys!

[edit] Thanks for those vids Grandpa! You were really moving.

Thanks man. How do you drive on the interstate? I don't stay below 75-80. A good buddy of mine on here got the 4:10's so he could wax my ***, he kept them in for a month and backed off of them. 4:10's are fun for me for stop light to stoplight accel but I play on the hwy alot with my buddies at times!

I thought the difference was pretty noticable when I went to the 3.73's. I have no regrets.

And yes, it chirps 3rd if I stay on it hard, second it'll turn a little sideways on the shift

I usually drive around 80 unless I'm in a hurry. I've never played around with anyone on the hwy before. Any racing/full throttle action I do is in town, stop light to stop light. I also go to the strip (1/8 mile) and autocross regularly.

Last time I was at Doug's place (Bamachips) he told me he installed 4.10's and hated them and took them off. He advised me to never get 4.10's but I am beginning to think, unless he had them when he was n/a, the 4.10's + his magnacharger was just too much.

Oh boy, back to teeter-tottering between 3.73's and 4.10's again.

This vid makes me want 4.10's.

I'M SO TORN!
