Default Exhaust price... worth it?

hey guys, i called the OC mufflerman today to get an estimate, he told me for a X pipe and flowmasters it would only cost me 650, i was like, ok thats not bad, then when he told me for the JBA headers those were 900 alone, WTF! so the total is gunna be 1500. mind you i have a V6, is this price ok? the headers were alot priceyer then i thought, should i look around for anybody else to get my exhaust system done? or would you think that this is ok. i know headers dont do to much for a stock, but down the line im gunna do alot more engine work and i think the headers would help down the line.
Thanks Guys!

Tip=buy the parts yourself and then call him with a quote for install.

Were they "ceramic coated" headers? If so that price would be inline.

I'd go with headers for sound value alone.

wow, that is high.... my o/r h or o/r x w/ mid mounted two chamber flowmasters was 250, including the stainless tips.....IMO, i would reconsider.

Fuc k that bro. I got my entire setup minus headers for 375. I did the install and paid a shop 50 to weld it up.....On my V6 that is.

If they are quoting $650 for the X-pipe/cat-back INSTALLED then the price is inline IMO.

I paid around $1200 for my longtubes, h-pipe and cat-back INSTALLED. However those were JBA 409 uncoated $650.

sooo, that sounds about right to me.

Thats about right. My headers and x-pipe with highflow cats with install was around that figure.

exhuast on our cars aren't too bad to install. If you don't want to do it than shop around or buy the parts online and call him back.

everthing other then the headers i would say do it yourself. (unless you got all the tools and a buddy ready to get busted knuckles. you might wanna get it welded up though.. shop around online. go to u tube and find what you like best.

JBA are so overpriced it's not even funny
Especially for the HUGE amount of horses they provide and with the easy "walk in the park" install to boot!!
Even with long tubes, it's still a waste on a stock engine...

If you know (if not, find one) a good muffler shop, ask them to build you the pipes for you...
I'm sure they can build them for less than $650.
As far as the headers, have your OEM ceramic coated and you're done.
