take your time on this decision. these cars are selling at all time lows. i went to galpin and was looking at their selection. i bought my premium gt brand new with a lot of options for 28k out the door. another mustang, my year, same options, with maybe 100-300 more miles selling for 17k.

So, I'm not nuts, this is still kind of a hard decision. Amazing looking suped up V6 or stock GT?

I'd put a the extra money into your current payment and keep saving. That way when you decide you'll be in better shape. Don't foget insurance is also going to be more.

I agree with thuxel 100%. Do not trade your car, which is a great car in the first place, in for another that you do not need, when it would place you in a hard financial situation.

Agreed!

Too much financial strain will take the fun out of a new car.

Just enjoy what you have. Even in V6 form, you have a very nice car and one that many look at with envious glances. Make a few mods if you want, but have a goal to put yourself into a new GT in a few years.

Keep your car. It is fantastic. Not very many GO's around our state, be they V6 or GT.
save you money, get financially stable.
Not sure what you do for a living but these are not the times to put yourself into debt more each month. I lost my job last year after 28 years there.. and am still looking.
Unemployment only goes so far. You just never know. The economy stinks.......
I am very lucky that my husband is working ..and that my GT is paid off.

Put the money in the bank and let it sit. Do a few mods to make yours more unique if you want but dont go overboard.

Our cars are amazing as they are!

I was in the same situation as you, but with a different type of car.

When I traded in my 01 Mustang GT to a 08 Scion tC (11/07) I thought I was making a nice decision, but then later on I regretted it - I really wanted my Mustang back.

So I saved/added more money to my payments and now I have a nice 08 new Mustang GT that I can enjoy without going crazy on my wallet. Did my payments go up? Yes, but not by much (like 8-9 dollar difference).

So in the end, you made a mistake... everyone does - its human nature. If you really want it, AND you can afford it - then go for it, just save up at least a year or two first. If you can't just continuing paying that loan - you have a nice car, enjoy it and have fun. I know its hard, but you know what - you just like many of us here can actually get a mustang. A lot of people can't and would really would like one.

Also, I can agree with r3velation, especially with the discounts I picked up my GT Prem for $27K with a couple nice upgrades

Hi! My car is 05 V6. I put dual exhausts, GT style grill with fog lights, SCT with BAMAchips race tune and GT500 spoiler. They are around 1500 bucks. It runs more than I expected. The fog lights are perfect at night. The exhausts look beautiful. Just do some mods and save your money, insurance cost and gas which lightly goes up recently.

What are you getting with a GT?

Stiffer suspension
Larger engine
better transmission
Posi traction

Your stock V6 is rated 200hp, GT rated 300hp. People spend $5,000 for a 100hp blower. If you can get a great deal on a GT, I say go for it.

And when you get asked, is that a GT? You can say... YES!
