Question Leaving car for 6 months

I will be leaving my car parked for the next six months. I am going to disconnect the battery and place some fuel stabilizer in the tank.

Is there any thing else i need to do?

What fuel stabilizer should I use use?

I have tried to use the search function, but i can not get it to open up.

Thanks for the help.

If you are parking in a garage with electric. Get a battery maintainer and get some plastic to put under the car to keep moisture down. Lay the plastic out and drive the car over it. My 2 cents......

Get some banking soda (2-3 boxes should be fine) - open the box and leave it in the car. This will take care of any moisture in the car. Also, plug up your exhaust with like a towel or something so no critters decide to take a nap/make it there new nest.

Instead of a towel, use steel wool. It's available at your local hardware shop. Mice and other critters dont like it.

Where I live, it is not friendly to keeping your Mustang looking good over the winter. I searched many a post to find these suggestions as well as those above. Also, it depend on if you are storing it outside or inside.

I am no expert but here is what I have been told to do.

1. Battery tender. If you keep the battery in the car fine but if you take it out, place it on a piece of wood, not on concrete. Somehow that does no good for the battery.
2. Plastic underneath keeps moisture from moving up into the car. Some people say to "wrap it up" from underneath. Don't seal the car in as moisture can't get out then. Just take the bottom up and then close your doors on the plastic.
3. If your not going to put the car up on struts, put some extra PSI in your tires to keep your tires from flatspotting.
4. Before you put your car away, put some reputable fuel stabilizer in the tank. I used "Stabil", fill up your car with premium, take it for a drive, then put it away.
5. Get an oil change before you put it away.
6. Vacuum your car out, and then vacuum it out again. Anything left for "friends" can cost you new carpet or floor mats. Someone told me to put a couople of dryer sheets into the interior. If you like that kind of thing, hey, go for it. I like tha baking soda idea!
7. Make sure your windows are all the way up. Don't let any bugs in.
8. Get a car cover. I didn't have one and I had a pop can explode all over my car when it was bitterly cold. What a mess!

Then finally, wait....and wait....until the day you can start her up and hear that amazing Mustang growl!

Good luck!

lay something down under all the tires so you dont get dry rot.

Wow...I just left mine

Looked exactly as I left it. I did take one precaution and filled the tank all the way. But that was it.

Just a little warning, if its going to be stored in a place that could get really hott, your windsheild may get cracked.. that happened to my ranger a while ago.
