Default A little help Please **Decision** 2009

With a new 1yr old, and a 7yr old, life doesnt leave much time for personal hobbies. So I convinced the wife to let me buy a toy to keep in the driveway since I have a company truck, and she drives the family car Edge.

My personal vehicle is a F-150 4x4 that hardly gets driven and just sits. So I figured why not get a new stang and park it and let it be my personal vehicle. I mean we have an Edge that we run around in anyhow.

But the dad in me says not to get rid of the truck..... LOL

Dad opinions chime in!! Should I get the mustang?

if your financial situation allows for it, and it's something that you really do want, I say go for it

here is the solution. get a 5x10 or 6x12 trailer to use with the edge in case you need to haul anything. My trailer cost me about $800. Then you can sell your truck and buy the mustang. problem solved

Go for it. I have a newborn coming and I never thought once about selling the Mustang. I'll my family and friends were like "Time to get a family car" and I'm like, my wife drives a Nissan Murano, why do I need a four door car or an SUV?

If you don't do it now, you'll be like me and have to wait until at least one of the kids is out of college. Just do it, while you can.

I think it is important that grown ups have something for themselves. Can't always be about "us" or "kids" gotta have a little bit of "me." Some have sports, crafts, travel and some have cars. If you can afford the car and it is ok with your wife, why not.

Just make it your job that she gets "me" time/toys too.

The only way I would sell my truck is if my wife was driving a truck. The second you dont have one you need one for something. But if you cant afford to have both then you have to make the decision. My truck is the backup family car since I have no back seat in the Mustang and the Mustang is my backup commuter. Good Luck!

Very good advice. We sold our truck right before the fuel prices spiked and bought SUV's to commute everyday. However, that box on the truck was soon missed so we purchased a utility trailer and all has been great ever since. The nice thing about the trailer is that it hauls a lot more than the truck did!
