Default I think im my cars worst enemy :(

I suck at driving a manual... I drive ~100 miles a day and i can drive it fine, but getting into gears still troubles me, i always rev to like 2-3k before i even get it in gear. And 1st second and sometimes third shifts are kinda bumpy, like i let out the clutch too quick and the car bumps a bit.

That being said, i recently got rear ended, not very hard but hard enough to push my car a few feet and do some damage. Well ive noticed since then that first gear is acting really funny, like it staggers or slips when once i get rolling. Im not sure what is causing it but it feels like its just not grabbing right away and the car staggers. Almost feels like the bouncy feeling of wheel hop but its something else. My question is, is it my bad clutch work or the accident that could have done the damage? And what could it be?

Any tips on making my shifts smoother? i can sometimes but when im crusing around town and trying to keep it slow its not easy.

Im at about 36500 miles so my warranty just lapsed, but i did have ford look over my clutch a few weeks ago because its really hard to get into reverse sometimes. They said it was fine, so does that kinda prove it would be something caused by the accident?

did you get the morons info who rearended you??? I hope so, if yes, take it to dealer and everything is on the rearender cuz their insurance must pay the damage to your vehicle. Yes let out clutch and don't use so much gas idk..... it's not hard man.... this is the easiest stick shift I've ever driven. you would probably die if you drove my 68 Camaro with a 4 speed LOL, you gotta man handle the old school muscle!

I gotta agree with you. Even though my s197 is an auto, I test drove a few manuals before I decided to buy my GT. The s197 stick is a breeze compared to my first manual, a T4 equipped 1979 Mustang Pace Car.

You can't be any harder on yours than I was on mine.......but I was determined to learn.
The more you drive it, the better you'll get. Once I quit trying to baby mine, it seemed to get much easier.

just let the clutch out smoothly, don't use the gas, and let the car lean a bit forward. once it starts to move, add a bit of throttle.

over time, it'll become second nature. also, a very big tip i learned when i started driving manual, don't think about it too much. the anticipation of the shift+releasing clutch makes you feel a tad nervous if inexperienced.

+1000, to the "practice practice practice"

why did you purchase a manual if you suck at driving it?
