...presumably they don't have flex issues (they have 4 hood pins across the front, though)...

Remember Daytona? Maybe should try six pins - and some duct tape. heheh!
(Nice car 05Sonic!)

RE: Top Speed for the 05 GT
I've hit 130 without notice. A 04' GT pulled next to me on the highway, next thing I know I'm in 4th at 120 Redlined, shifted into 5th and jumped to 130ish. I was impressed on the stability of the car when shifted into 5th at high gear. However, the hood flexing is very scary. Peter T

I'm wondering if the hood flex thing is a GT thing. I had my V6 over 120 quite a few times, and there was no flex, it was solid. Maybe the lack of room due to engine size forces the air out in the 4.6. I'll have to see this weekend. When I drive my GT.

That won't get rid of air under hood, it may in fact complicate the problem, the area just in front of the windshield is a high pressure zone, and will force more air under. That is how a cowl hood scoop works (with the opening in the back) At least this is the way I understand it.
I would watch the ford racing program to see what they come up with.

stock, the cars are limited to 140ish b/c of the speed rating on the tires.
i've hit 120mph a few times, but the hood flex thing is just too scary.
on the hood flex issue, i remember reading somewhere it's because air gets trapped under the hood and has no place to go. if this is true, maybe removing the black plastic trim by the windshield washer posts at the bottom of the windshield would create some airflow. the guys that run the cramer engine Grand Am Cup Racing Series Mustangs appear to have stock hoods and presumably they don't have flex issues (they have 4 hood pins across the front, though). i'd like to find a solution that doesn't involve a new hood or drilling holes in my hood.
