Default I feel like an idiot, but I need help with CAI installation

Ok, call me dumb but I'm tired of not having success. I'm trying to install my JLT CAI and I can't get the heat shield to attach. It says to attach it with the factory box bolt, but it won't screw into the car. And I can't seem to get the little clip from the factory box. Am I supposed to destroy the rubber grommet that is holding the clip into the factory box?

Thanks for the help in advance.

JLT, expensive. You would thing detailed instructions.
Bad JLT, no instructions.
My AirAid had detailed instructions
and good pics as well.
Pics of what you are having trouble with?
The internal spacer on the rubber bushing
removes before the bushing can be removed
from the airbox.

Ok, here are some pics.

The first one is the screw sitting in the hole where it will be once it attached the heat shield. It is just dropped in because there is nothing for it to bolt into.

The second one is of the screw going though the heat shield into the same hole as the first pic. Again, nothing to anchor the screw.

The 3rd and 4th are of the stock air box with the anchor that I think I need in my heat shield. Just don't know how to get it out without destroying it. The instructions don't mention anything about removing it, and they are otherwise very detailed. Not sure what to do.

You definitely need that clip in the third picture. It should just slide to the right. Don't know what to tell you, the clip on mine stayed with the car when I took out the factory air box.

Sweet, got it! I put the stock box back in and had that retainer clip locked in, and then just pulled straight up and it broke the bottom of it off, so it was clipped to the car, and proves the thread I need. Should be done in like 10 mins now!

How much did you pay for your Airaid CAI? I paid $210 for my JLT. Seemed like the best performance for the price.

$149 eBay NIB. MVT model.
It came w/ really good instructions.
Its identical to the Roush CAIs which are made by AirAid
but cost more because the Roush logo is molded into it.

Clips like the one pictured are available
at most major Auto Parts Stores.
