Default crazy talk: GT500's

for some crazy reason, i feel like i can afford a GT500.... so, here are my requests:

1) does anybody know what the dealerships buy the cars for? i was told today that i could get x-plan for about $42,000 but i still feel that is high.
2) for those of you who have purchased a new GT500 or have inquired at a dealership for one, what did you pay for the car (minus tax, title, etc) or what were you quoted?
3) what sort of pricing estimates are projected for the 2010's? (was surfing that section but got all broken links)
4) about what is the price difference between a GT and GT500 as far as insurance is concerned?

Thanks a bunch! im going to check one out tomorrow at a local dealership.
I would hate to get rid of my car (seeing as i have spent about $2400 in parts and labor since january of this year, although none of my new suspension components are installed yet), but would loveeeee to have a 5.4L and a blower :-D

Thanks again for all the replies!

dealer invoice on a base GT500 is $38,500 for the 2009 model.

If it has the Interior Trim Package the invoice on that is $518, Navigation is $1736 and Shaker 1000 is $1127.

This shows a great argument for buying base model GT500's, huh?

a quote through geico for me is this
current price i pay on 2004 SVT lightning, 2007 Mustang GT (shelby gt) $102 a month full coverage
to replace both with a 08 500 is 137$ a month. so i would image in my case 24yr old male, single, that i pay probably $65 a month for GT and would pay $137. this is is southern AZ, VERY high uninsured motorist here as you can imagine.

the dealership offered me my x-plan discount, so i figure that along with my great bargaining skills (haha) i would be able to get one on the cheep (hopefully). in all seriousness though, they sounded like they really wanted to move the car, so depending how badly they want to do such will tell how cheep they will go. the great thing about it is if they dont want to take my price, i still have a car that i am happy with :-D
thanks guys!

Id hold out for a 10'
Although you couldnt get it as cheap, the 2010s look pretty cool, plus it would be even more rare at the moment.
good luck either way

paid 500 below msrp of 47,300 in May 08 for mine
I have read where several people have gotten them for 2-3k below msrp
insurance on mine actually went down compared to my 05 gt but I also think it had allot to do with me getting older, no accidents, no tickets in forever and staying with Geico for 7 years++ $80 per month for insurance...
I would personally see to get an 09 or even an 08 leftover....you probably could get a great deal....the options increase also include $1300 for the gas guzzler tax....I do not think many GT500 are ordered without the interior trim upgrade....the hid lights look awesome...the only other option I would negotiate with your dealer is different mufflers....my dealer threw them in for me so tech then I paid $1000++ below MSRP because my $46,800 included different (stingers) axelbacks, and tint including install....
the 2010 are $3k higher than the 08 and 09......good luck

just got back. the car is listed for 46 and change, with x-plan it was 42 and change. they would only give me 15000 for the trade (ridic) which, at 7.2% and 0 down over 84 months, would leave me at around $460 or something, not including insurance. Still out of my ball park.... dammit!

Sounds like a good deal at 4200, but yeah, I think if you're looking at 7.2 and 84 months, it may not be a great idea. Never hurts to try though!
