Default Run of bad luck cont'd...Chipped hood - HELP!

Well i have had a string of bad luck this past week:

Exhaust clamps wont tighten - keep loosening up
Exhaust hangers weld broke free - lost one hanger
Gas cap wont hold suction
Screw in rear driver tire
Alignment out of wack
oh yeah, my paint sprayer for my side jobs just took a **** as well, motor went out...

And now i can add a CHIPPED FKING HOOD to the list....

I go to a lot of car shows and of all things i have a chipped fkin hood....

i was driving to my parents house this morning and it must have happened then on the hwy because it wasnt there this morning and i just noticed it right now...not just a little ole chip that i can fill in with some touch up paint, no no no, this goes all the way down to the metal and is pretty large....

Is there anything i can do about this or am i just going to be out my deductable to repaint the hood? If so, should i just dump that deductable into an aftermarket hood through my insurance and a body shop i know or what?....what shall my next step be???

Ouch man I'm sorry to hear that To be honest, I would do the insurance, have them cut a check to your body shop, and get the hood you want bro! Perfect chance to upgrade.

thats not over $500 to repair, so you wont get anything from insurance.

Yea he's probably right actually.... not bad enough for them to pay to replace the whole hood, probably should get a quote on how much to repair it... Sucks, I would personally wish it was worse so that you could have the whole hood replaced/painted ( = good $ for aftermarket )

If you wanted to fix it yourself, I would wait for Pascal to chime in, he would have the best advice for sure. I'm definitely no body man

Yeah you only get the amount you need that the deductible wont cover so if it was 550 to fix you would only get 50 from insurance.... so usually that only helps when the hood is damaged beyond repair.

That is exactly what you should do. Most body shops will want to paint the entire hood and then blend the fenders. Major cost.

Get a price on a pro touch up job. You might be surprised at the price. Worth a shot. I had some damaged paint fixed and they threw in touching up every chip for no more than the original price.
