Default My mustang has zits - need answer from a paint pro

I have a 2005 mustang (i purchased it new in 2005) and the one I choose off the lot did not have a wing and I wanted one. The dealership said they would order me a wing and paint it to match, they did and it looked great.

Forward 3 years and my warranty expires...

Right after my first 3 years a few tiny bumps started to appear on my wing, no problem, i buy some touch up paint and fix them. Now more and more are appearing, the whole wing has about 50 of them now, tiny bumps, like zits on a kids face. You can pick them with your fingernail and they are like a white chalk underneath.

What would cause this, do I have any recourse with the dealership who painted it?

Simply put the paint is failing.. either from poor prep work or poor quality product, or a combination of both. It never hurts to try to get them to take care of it, the worse they could say is no. Worse case cenario is you take the wing off and take it somewhere to have it resprayed.

it's ok, your car is just becoming a man.... not really

it does sound like poor prep work; like scremn mentioned, i'd talk to the dealer and see if they can do anything about it, if not, get it repainted somewhere else that's not another dealer or macco

Hmm, my dealership painted my cs bumper, and although the paint is 1-2 days old at the moment, its warrantied for life as far as paint/craftsmanship

The gel-coat on your spoiler is popping,I've seen the same problem on cheap aftermarket hood's.If you sand it down and prime and paint it they will come back. The cause is from the way they made it. It's cheaper to replace the spoiler then to re-work the one you have. If your out of warranty I don't think they'll cover it...but you can always try.
