I work full time, was going to school full time (took off this semester for surgery), I save. Honestly I dont really need to go to school with this job. I moved out of my apartment because I hate being alone. I have money that is going into saving, I could go out and just buy another car but I dont want to.
I plan on moving out when I'm ready again, but in the mean time I'm saving. I plan on buying everything brand new when I move out. which to say I have 3 savings accounts which all have different meanings to them. car, house, and personal.
Could just go out and find a 05-08 for cheap and mod that, and keep the sixxer, but then that would be three car payments and insurance ;(

Here's what you do. Go back to that stealership (perfect name for them in this situation) and kick your salesman in the *****. More than once too. Then, demand he swaps your V6 for a GT500 even steven.

If you really want a V8, then you can get one, plus the PCM from ford racing (they sell it as a kit).
However, to be perfectly honest - just keep the car you have right now and save up. Cars will always be there and nothing sucks more than driving around in a car that you know you can't afford (you will not enjoy the ride and you will be stressed).

I made the same mistake a couple times. I had an 05 Ranger, traded it in 2 years later and got a 2007 V6, but I really wanted the V8 and didn't think I could afford it etc. Well, 1 year later while looking for a car for my GF, I ended up buying the V8. I'm paying through the nose for it, because I'm so upside down from the truck/v6, but I love it. I've learned my lesson, but don't learn the hard way like me. Stick it out a bit, and wait for the GT. I'd hold on to the V6 and not do anything performance wise to it. I'd just use it as a DD and then once the debt was paid down a bit get the v8. JMO

I think if you really want to do it, go down to a dealership and see if you can work out a deal for a used one maybe in a payment that you can afford, but if you can't WALK AWAY! Don't let the voice in your head saying BUY IT take over if its a real stretch for you to afford.

If you have the cash saved like you say then here is what I would do.
Go around and find someone with an 08 GT on their lot that you like. Brow beat them into giving you a good deal on it and pay cash for the difference you lost on the 6. Then you start fresh with a lesson learned. With all the rebates and things going now you can probably steal a GT from a dealer. Figure the money you lost is what the value of the GT really is to make you feel better.
No the other option of keeping the 6 might make sense if you want to go crazy down the line with a built motor, FI, built trans, built rearend etc, since even if you had a GT you would be ripping it all out anyway.
Different body style but I am pretty sure Justin at VMP has a new edge 6 with turbo's that ran 10's or something.
You can make a 6 plenty fast it just wont sound as good as an 8
