UDP, lightweight flywheels/clutches/driveshafts all reduce the amount of engine torque required to spin the rpms on those things up. On the way down this also represents less load on the crank trying to hold the revs up because all those things now have less leverage against the crank.

That is assuming that the engine would drop revs faster if left to itself than the other stuff would if you suddenly cut them completely free of the crank. Absolutely true in the case of the flywheel/clutch/driveshaft, and likely to be true for all of the belt-driven accessories with the possible exception of the water pump.
