Default The S197 Mustang and the economy

How is the nasty economy and the uncertain financial future impacting your plans for your Mustang? Are you spending money moding stuff as usual or buying less expensive stuff or saving your money to pay off your note to give yourself more security?

Same here, i work at a grocery store and go to college. While i have very little extra money to put into my car i still spend as usual. Planning on buying a second jet ski soon, then more mods for the car. The store i work at is in a great location and has little competition at the moment so we do pretty good. Although lately ive been getting a bit less hours, i still have 6k in the bank and make all my payments ok.

Here is a better question, the way our economy is and the lack of spending people are doing... why haven't prices of parts gone down? Our car is NOT new anymore. Why is a driveshaft for a 2005+ Mustang $600-1000 when a driveshaft for a -2004 Is only 300-400 bucks? Same with everything else we buy.

It's been a long time since I've spent money on my car, other than basic maintenance. For this very reason. My friend has an 04 and can by 3-4 parts to my 1. I guess I have to wait like 10 years for prices to drop in order to get all those goodies, because I'm not spending $5000 on headers, intake, cams and heads, and I'm not supercharging so I guess I'll just have to live with my very mild modded car.

I personally haven't been affected by the economic downturn either, but it doesn't mean I won't be in the future. I think spending freely isn't the most wise decision, but that's my personal POV.

I am still doing mods, but I'm certainly taking additional precautions at the same time. My wife and I are working on saving a full years salary on top of what we already have... and I'm doing only the cheaper mods for the time being. As much as I want a supercharger, dropping $5k right now just doesn't make any sense to me.

(young and stupid) + (expectation of income) = (new 2008 Mustang GT)

(young and stupid) + (liquidation of savings) = (saleen supershaker supercharger)

I'm a moron. I haven't even graduated yet...What can I say...I'm doing my part to fix the economy

I lost my job, so all modding has slowed down. I just buy smaller less expensive stuff. I am saving right now for new springs, shocks, and struts. I hope to have them by the summer. It sucks right now. I want to work, but can't find anything. There is still so much more I want to do to my Mustang.
