They're a great company for the pushrod mills...
I don't think their modular block would be junk.

No first hand experience but I have never heard anything bad about them, but not many mod motor guys have used them. Prices are defineatly good as advertised but I am pretty sure that quote is with an iron block. Alum is more $$. Iron would be between 40lbs to 100lbs more depending who you ask. I have heard both.

For the cost saving I think I might go iron, but I hope to have at least 3 more years before I have to do it.

IMO that's kind of a weak HP rating for "forged" internals, most are good to minimum 1000. I know you may not push it to that point but when your spending that much it's nice to have the option.

x2 if I were to go forged short block I would want it to handle way over 600+ rwhp. Whats the point of going forged if the stock block can handle over 500rwhp?

Sounds to me like it's good cast stuff with a bolt upgrade (600 is still stretching it). I don't know though. If you spend 3-3.5 you could have the best so why go cheap when your spending that much money?

I'm sure their hp rating is at the crank.
