I bought a liquid that is painted on called Quiet Car available here:
http://quietcar.net/
It's pretty good. The more coats you paint on, the quieter things get. I only put it on the outside of the wheel wells and under the back seat and inside back wheel wells. I was mainly trying to deaden tire noise. I just have stock mufflers so they're not too loud. I like the smooth stock rumble mufflers.
So, between my Quiet Car liquid and my Goodyear Assurance Comfortred tires my ride is very quiet.
I was reading in Popular Science the other day that the 2010 Mustangs have improved the interior noise significantly. I'm going to quote what they said:
Hop in and you notice the tighter interior panel fit, especially the new soft molded instrument panel. It's quieter too. So quiet that signature V8 rumble is actually piped in to the cabin via a tube from the cold air intake. Engineers have tuned out the jittery rear end motions caused by rough pavement, and the steering has a heftier, more direct feel.
