Just play around with the height and left or right orientation of the block, before you change the adjustment on the throw. I've had mine since they were first offered, hands down the best shifter period.

i have my shifter ball raised the highest it can go and it makes a big diff

We're just having fun.

For starter, those shifter use a short handle for less traveling on your end.
Underneath (beneath the pivot ball), it's kinda the opposite, the arm is longer.
So, with a minimal movement at the ****, you're amplifying the movement at the other end, thus, getting the gears engaged.
The payback off that, is the firmer feel when shifting. It's called the Notchy feel.
