2010 Mustang GT Dyno @ MAGNAFLOW

We just wrapped up our development on the 2010 Ford Mustang GT and have some dyno numbers for those curious about the output of the retuned 4.6L.

What were the actual HP numbers with the Exhaust?

steele901 03-10-2009 09:14 AM

WOW! nice numbers for just a 3" cat back

bolivianpimp 03-10-2009 09:46 AM

it gained 15hp and 17tq from the 3" catback? wow how much are they

2011Black5.0 03-10-2009 10:42 AM

wow pretty nice gains

GerRod 03-10-2009 06:53 PM

Sorry to get off topic, but if the blue curve represents stock, then it has 290 hp stock. Estimating a 15% drive train loss, that mean it's ~341 hp at the flywheel. It's underrated and could be a sleeper!

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. 290rwhp stock is pretty crazy, that is about 25-30rwhp over the current S197.

And that thing does sound badass!

ThisBlood147 03-11-2009 03:52 PM

Damn. Either that's a very generous dyno.........or the new GT's have a bit more than Ford's letting on about. Either way, over 300rwhp with just a catback is lightyears better than the 05-09's capabilities.

Remember that the 2010 is gonna already have an adaptive/aggressive tune and the bullit intake. So your not gonna see the big gains from the cai intake and tune like you did on the s197s.

sounds great kinda confused why a 3" system on an NA 4.6l made more HP I could understand on a fi 4.6 or the 5.4 motor

But isn't the 2010 mustang exactly like the 05-09 mustang just intake/tune? So, wouldn't this mean that we should see the same results if we put the catback into our models?

I thought that the 2010's would about on par with an intake/tune 05-09 also. But no catback has ever pushed an intake/tuned S197 over 300rwhp.....not that I know of. We'd have to do full exhaust with LT's to accomplish this. Either the computer on the new cars is radically different than ours (in a very good way)....or, like I said, this was a very generous dyno.

Very generous...

Ill believe it when I see a 2010 w/ only axel backs run mid 12's...

ahddm 03-18-2009 11:53 AM

while Jack was unvieling roush today he quoted stock gt at 350hp so this seems right to me. They are underrating it

torque_is_good 03-18-2009 12:24 PM

It was probably a manual transmission on the dyno. Autos will see the usual lower results.

stock gt 350 FWHP?

Then they must have changed more than just a tune and CAI. Did they change the heads or cam?

I'm looking for a copy of the video now I'll post if I can find.

Black Mamba GTT 03-18-2009 05:20 PM

No way you gain that much from a cat back without putting headers in the equation. maybe 5rwhp............maybe

solaratomic 03-18-2009 06:49 PM

Talked to a Ford Mechanic today that always helps me out with my mustang...on the free. Anyhow we got on the subject of the 2010. He said exactly what I stated earlier the exact powertrain of the 2008 bullet with an adaptive/aggressive tune similar to steedas. But he said ford is begining to perfect the power of the phaser so I'm sure the new tune optimizes these.

I have seen many people throw this 15% drive train loss number around but, where does it come from?

I put out 300rwhp/318rwtq with bbk intake, brenspeed 93 octane tune, off road x and stingers. With 20s and texas heat.

EagleStroker 04-05-2009 03:03 PM

It's a little more mellow than mine, but the mufflers sound just about exactly like my straight through Magnaflows. I really love it.

But you're also using an off road mid-pipe. I believe the setup these guys were using still had the cats. I dunno.......I'm hoping the numbers they're posting are legit, we'll put it that way.:D
