Sport truck tires on the GT?

Sport truck tires on the GT?
After reading many, many, many reviews of different tires. I've finally decided on the General grabbers in a 255/50/17. Anyone on here use these tires? There are a few chargers drivers and other performance oriented car owners with reviews on tirerack.com and they are all good. They are only .1 inch shorter than the stock pirellis, according to the manufacturers specs.

I have over 25,000 miles on the pirellis and they are down to the outer wear bars (I assume those are wear bars on the outer tread blocks).

Without comparing the construction to other, non-truck designed summer performance tires I'd say they sound pretty good. My only concern would be how the construction would affect handling as compared to that of a tire designed more towards the sedan/coupe.

I just had Nexen HP Plus tires installed on my rears and they are no louder than the Kuhmos I had on there before. I wanted the beefy look but a sport truck tire was all I could find. THe tread doesnt look bad either.

A 275/45/17 would be nice, if such a tire existed.

based on relative tire width advantage, tread compound, tread design, price, the weight of the tires and the intend weight for their maximum performance, and other factors all taken from outside the tirerack website the General Grabbers will:
- Perform worse than the thinner stock Pirellis
- Wear Quicker than the stock Pirellis
- Cost More than the stock Pirellis
Using a tire that's not intended for it's purpose is just not very good. Chargers would use them because they don't have $78 Prielli tires.
If I were in your position I'd upgrade to some 18" wheels because actually the tire selection for the mustang's size range of tire in 17" diameter is terrible for a whippled car, there's almost no wider tires there.
Also tire rack reviews have been statistically proven by others and verified by myself and confirmed by others to be a lot of bull****. Because tire rack actually compiles the reviews into a statistical analysis you can compare that statistical analysis to scientific analysis from magziness who know what's what and almost a third of the time their reviews are opposed to reality. In fact the statistical best tire in all categories on tire rack is rated the 4th worst at everything. Reviews are a good starting point but they're not a reliable way of making wacky or serious decisions especially about this subject.
