I'm thinking of putting these on my stock 17" rims - on my 06 gt vert. Anybody have experience with these tires? Or recommend something else?

i just got Nitto 555 Extreme ZR in 255/50zr17..................a comparable tire in the same size. these are fantastic, inexpensive, have a decent treadwear rating (300), and the ride is...........incredibly smooth and silent. plus, they look freakin BEEFY. i HIGHLY reccomend them

For an A/S tire, it's absolutely mediocre at best. It's the tire that came stock on my GT and after my CAI & tune, I couldn't keep them from spinning. No hook-up.

Better tires and cheaper tires are available. Keep looking.

I'm planning on Nittos 450s in the 255/50/17 size, although, have not heard much about them. Good reputation, good tread look. Hardest thing is to find a good tire in this particular size. I want to stay 17s and keep the tall sidewall, for the retro look.

I have them now since I switched to the 18" take off Bullitts. I will say they do seem a bit better then the Perellis I had on my stock 17" although they are no replacement for actual summer rubber.
