Lol, you don't even need a compressor.
By the time you back the nut off, you have almost no load on it.
When I do, I use this... I cheat

Pascal, my friend... I wish i lived in Orlando because you would be my "go-to" guy, no doubt!m With your lift this little project would take half the time and I would be glad to pay you for it!

I'd heard that it didn't take much to get the stockers off but the upgrades are Steeda competition's and I tried to compress those puppies by sitting my 250lb *** on them.. they barely moved!! These springs are STIFF.

I was more worried about getting the Steeda's ON than the stockers off.

I may not need the compresser but I don't want to have to make a trip tomorrow mid-project.

I understand that not everyone has a lift and a set of 2x4s lol.

I'm going on the record to say that I NEVER made fun of your lift/spring compressor setup Pascal lol. Whatever works.... you could have probably saved me some money! that lift (not to mention your airtools) would cut my suspension upgrade time in half.

Lol i used NO spring compressor my very first time (i've done a few now for friends and myself included).

BAD IDEA.

Good thing the drywall can be patched on my dad's garage ceiling

Good luck with the drop!

btw I've heard of the technique where you leave the strut in place on the car and remove that top nut while place a jack under the strut/spring assembly to keep in under load (ie making the jack the spring compressor) and then slowly let the strut extend outward once the nut is removed.

sounds sketchy to me. if i had a car i didn't car about as much... I could probably perfect it and then it wouldn't bug me as much haha

I "thought" by purchasing the upper plates I would be spared of having to disassemble the old mcpherson assy. surprise, surprise! you have to swap the rubber upper spring mount and coil isolater. arrrghhhh...

sooooo... I have to disassemble the old for those few little parts.. I tossed the idea of just buying those new from Ford but you know how it goes.. "we can't find the part, we have to order the part, the part cost $30+ for one little plasic piece" etc etc. ugh.

I already have the car in the air now, wheels off, all set to go in the morning.
