Experienced the Fuel Pump TSB on the g/f's V6
I bought the g/f a used '06 V6 with 9750 miles on it. We were cruising last weekend at 65-70 MPH for awhile and when she romped on it, it hesitated and bucked once or twice and then took off. We couldn't immediately duplicate it but after about another 15-20 minutes of steady cruising she went WOT and it happened again. She also told me after she made the long trip home that it happened when she paid a toll and went to take off. She has about 5 weeks left on the remainder of the original warranty (signed over by the Ford dealership) so it's off to do battle with her local dealer.

Well, she has the TSB printed and I'll get involved if they give her a problem. She's pretty good with that kind of stuff but if they get nasty, I can be a MUCH bigger a**hole then they are. I've been thrown out of a Honda dealership once and have also been known to talk customers out of buying from a Chevy dealer in New Jersey.

You shouldn't have any problems getting the fuel pump replaced if you explain what the car is doing. I had the girlfriend take my 06 convertable in on monday for the air-bag re-call and also had them check the fuel pump to see if it was one that qualified as defective in the tsb and sure enough it was. She explained to them that is seemed to be a big safety hazzard when you are trying to pass someone or merge onto the interstate it's nice to have some power instead of a hiccuping pony. They had to order the pump as they didn't have it in stock but they called me today to let me know that the pump was in and would be taken care of under the factory 3/36 warranty.
Hope you get as lucky with your local dealer.

Are you sure it wasn't the TCS kicking in when she was coming outta the tolls. Not that that doesn't mean the fuel pump isn't a problem, it's just that I always punch it coming outta tolls, and the TCS ruins my party every time if I forget to turn it off.

I've had TCS kick in on my GT and it wasn't anything like what her V6 was experiencing... And only once and done until after the next steady cruise. VERY symptomatic of air in the fuel lines.
