Arrow X-pipe / Flowmaster exhaust

Hey guys...quick question here... I just bought a new 2008gt last week and put a pypes off road x pipe and flowmaster axle back american thunder exhaust. My problem is that when rmp gets to about 2500, "ricer" tone runs through the exhaust!!! It continues upwards of 3000, but sounds awsome when at idle!! Has anyone had that same sound? I called Flowmaster and they said it was the x-pipe?? I'm putting a vortech v3 on next week and was wondering if the sound would go away. I want a musclecar sound like my '69 has!! Do I need to put headers on??...Please let me know what you think!

Thanks

Cam that sum bitch and you'll get that old school sound. Headers will help a little, but I think X pipe and american thunders give you a raspy sound. Check youtube for cammed S197's.

+1 against flowmasters. They got the sound absolutely wrong on the s197.

I totally disagree. I have Flowmasters and love the sound. To each their own, I guess!

I generally like Flowmasters (I have 40 series on my 66 Mustang). I bought my 06 GT used and they guy before me put 40 series weld in's on it. The mufflers had quite a bit of drone but sounded fine with the stock h-pipe. When I switched to the Bassani X-Pipe they sounded horrible. I put the stock mufflers on and have stayed with that.

It seems like alot of people don't like the flowmasters with an x-pipe, but they sound good with an h-pipe or a Prochamber (if you want old-school type sound).

owero01, personally I think it sounds too tinny, or "rattly" like there's something being thrown around in your mufflers. Again, just my opinion on the flows.
