Default how to properly change tunes?

hey i'm looking to go from my 89 tune to my 93 tune. my tank is basically empty. so should i fill up with 93 first and the instantly change tunes or should i fill up and ride out the 89 for a while before i change the tune? thanks

empty out the 89, fill up 1/4 tank 93 wait till gas light goes on change the tune and fill her up and enjoy

I think Winstang meant as the final step was to fill up and then change the tune. I know, I'm being picky....

Good ideas.

I ran my 89 down as low as I good, then filled up with 93 and put in the 93 tune. Took off from the gas station with the throttle down and started pinging because of the 89 still in the fuel lines - oops.

So I drove it easy for several miles and it didn't ping again.

Would be a lot smarter to go with the advice in the above posts.
