Ipod Connector (for real this time)
last week i posted a thread about an ipod connector but i just went back to view it and all it said was "connector" Sorry about that, my internet must have screwed me over again anyway, heres what it was supposed to be:
Ive got one of those i Trip things to play my ipod through the radio but im tired of loosing my signal or getting crappyy sound quality. I want to buy one that uses my Aux feature on my stock shaker 500, heres the one i was looking at:

I was wondering if anyone had this and what their thoughts were. If you do can you post pics of it?
Thanks guys and sorry about the other thread.

What kind of port uses the AUX function on our HU's... I was under the impression that we could just run a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord and connect it to the back somewhere. I've never tried it, but that's what I thought...

I doubt thats the case. If anything you need that interface to connect anything to it.

Yes, for those HU's w/o the aux input in the center console I believe you need the interface. And there are 2 different types; 1 for those that are satellite equiped and 1 for those that are not.
FYI. I was looking into them for my g/f's '06 (they cost about $150) but she told me she wanted to try a Belkin unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter/power jack and works on the FM band. I was very skeptical but she bought one on ebay for $29 anyway. I have to say, for the price, I was impressed with the sound quality. It also holds the ipod and recharges it. She drove home 410 miles using it and never once had a reception issue. She's happy with it and as I said, for the price, ease of installation, functionality and location (due to where our power jack is), it was worth not dealing with ripping out the HU to install the adapter.

I've had 4 different FM transmitters and all of them (including the $120 Monster Cable one) sucked a d***. Part of that might just be that there are no more open radio channels in the Houston area, but even outside of large cities, the sound quality would be pretty sketchy. I've got some friends that work at Best Buy that can get those interfaces for about $50 instead of $150, so I'll probably get one of them to pick one up for me.

You need this:

TripTunes is a glorified FM transmitter.

I looked everywhere and I found this.
iSimple - part number ISFD73.
I installed it last year in my 06 GT with the stock Shaker 500. I used my 2nd generation 20 GB iPod first and it worked well with all the controls on the radio itself with text of what song/artist was playing.
I have a new generation iTouch that also works well but with the new generation, it does not charge while driving. Not a big deal for me as the new generation battery is much better.
It was an easy install with all the parts and wiring included in the kit. Bought it at Best Buy. Just make sure you have the switches in the right position or it will not operate correctly.Very easy to do, Flipped the #1 Switch to "ON" and the rest went easy. I would recommend this product.
The cost, $135.00 CDN. (At Future Shop which is owned by Best Buy)
It took me about 1 hour to do including taking apart the car and replacing everything. This was a pretty easy project.
