Yes the benadryl can and will knock some people out. Thats why I suggested it before going to sleep. Definitely ask for the inj....it will not make you drowsy and if the MD is not sure what it is tell him it is a glucocorticosteroid (anti-inflammatory) and lasts about 6 wks. I only need it two or 3 times a yr and it works so well that the next day I am 90% better

Is this effective on all types of allergies? Like pet-type allergies?

For allergies I take zyrtec. It works great, if the benadryl knocks you out then try zyrtec.
