Didn't you just get LTs? It seems to me to be a waste to go turbo at this point.

november 08, mustangs and fast fords says

sts turbo has a unique way of mounting its turbos. instead of the triedandtrue underhood location, the turbos are located remotely in the rear of the car. sts has three turbo kits for 05 and up mustangs. for the three valve epuipped stangs you have a choice of a single or a twin turbo setup. the single turbo kit is good for 400hp at 6psi of boost, while the twin turbo setup can ring out 500 hp on low boost, 650hp at higher boost levels and 1,000 or more hp o a modified engine. sts also offers a kit for 4.0l v-6 cars. for now the kit is only available in a single turbo configuration but expect hp fugures to check out in the neighborhood of 250 at 5 psi of boost, and a v8 slaying 313hp at 9psi of boost keep in mind all of those hp numbers are dyno proven os sts dyno and measured at the rear wheels.

That's a lot of Turbo lag on those things lol They don't hit full boost til almost 4k. They're stuck in the back, i'd assume, to prevent heat soak in the engine bay. I'd rather have a Hellion or Turbonetics....

Besides, that looks like a really dangerous place to put a intake(behind the rear wheel) I can see all kinds of things being throw up in there.. worst of all being water..

STS has horrible tech support, and their kit has a major design flaw. The weak link in the remote mount turbo is the scavange pump. If that pump fails, you are on the side of the road waiting for a tow. I had the twin kit on my car for a short period of time and the scavange pump started failing. STS could not or would not come up with a reason for failure or offer any solutions. The kit was installed correctly. STS simply stopped returning my phone calls and e-mails. I would stay far away from STS. There are better solutions for power at the same or lower dollar amount.

As for a power and lag.....when the kit was working like it was supposed to, my car started to build boost around 3200 and was at full boost (7psi) by 3800-4000. It comes on hard and fast, and sounds simply amazing....It just wasn't reliable, so it had to go. Fortunately, I have a second car to drive, so down time wasn't a big issue for me, but as others have stated, don't expect to jack up your car on Friday night, work on it leasurely all weekend and be driving it to work on Monday morning. You will need all weekend if all goes the way it's supposed to. A lift would cut several hours off of install time.
