Actual Dyno Reading Correct?

I got a dyno tune a while back on a mustang dyno. The numbers originally read 270 rwhp and 283 rwtq I believe. The guy who did the dyno said the mustang dyno reads 15% lower than what it actually should be, and that a dynojet is more accurate. What I did for my rwhp and rwtq in my sig was multiply 270 and 283 by 15% and added the difference on. Do my numbers seem right to you guys?

That is about right. You may be just a little bit lower with your current mods.

lbballin9 04-01-2009 11:31 PM

ower how do you like those thumpr cams?

Red Beast 04-02-2009 01:54 AM

yea, that seems right dude. i dont c how it could be any lower really

05 Mustang 04-02-2009 06:39 AM

that's correct.

My car was also tuned on a Mustang dyno. When the guys finished with mine, they warned me that my "numbers" were going to sound low compared to others that get their cars done on other types of dynos (dynojet), but to understand my numbers were true rwhp.

JMO, but the only other thing I would say is that your signature should actually read 270/283, because those are your car's true rwhp/rwtq numbers.

If you want to post dyno jet numbers in your signature, then take the car to a dynojet dyno. This is almost as bad as correcting 1/4 mile numbers based on DA. Just post mustang dyno in your sig.

FYI, when something reads 15% lower than normal, you take the number you have and divide it by .85 . Adding 15% is not correct (since you are adding 15% of the smaller number, when in actuality, you need to be adding %15 of the bigger number)

270/.85 = 317.65
and to check, 317.65 x .85 (85% of the "dynojet" reading)= 270

You have nice upgrades. If you want big numbers you must Supercharge,Nos,Turbo your ride,or be happy with you car. Is it the way you want it? Fast enough? The next steps you take in improving your dyno times will be expensive.

Those #'s seem about right, nice tq!

I agree with everyone else.....post your real #'s and state "on Mustang Dyno" and people will know they're lower than normal for a reason!

Thanks guys...I will be getting a s/c probably the beginning of next year. I just bought the gf an engagement ring, and she doesn't know so I have to hold off a little bit on the upgrades on the car. It will eventually be a garage kept/weekend car when I get a crappy DD.
