Saw another s197 today, black with the mustard yellow looking stripes. The rocker stripes said shelby GT-N (i think it was an N) but the tag said 06GTH so i read one of the two wrong. Anyways, what is it? It had shelby on the back bumper, and it had the gt500/cali spec bumper painted instead of flat black anywhere, a v6 looking grille but different front, and the exhaust sounded mean.

Excatly, Shelby built some cars for the rental company Hertz... as they did back in the 60's. I think they built 1000 of the GT-H cars, but I could be wrong so 1 of the Shelby goo-roos will corect that. Every year at the Chicago auto show a local collector brings some of his favorites to McCormic Place and this year he had a Shelby GT-H there. I belive they have the same package as the Shelby GT.... again someone will correct that.

yea, its a hertz. ive seen one before, it was tight. i dodnt quite like the hood on them though...

If it had personal tags like "06GTH" then it is a former Hertz Shelby Mustang, and someone owns it (Hertz didn't use personalized tags). They are available frequently on Ebay and even Craigslist. Hertz replaced the 06 coupe with a convertible version.

I rented one when I was in California in 2006 - was a lot of fun to drive and people tended to notice it.
