Default SALEEN To Honor Warranties?

I caught word that Steve Saleen is disappointed that his former company would not honor warranties on products bearing his name so He will be stepping up with the new SMS to honor them himself.
Has anyone else heard this and confirm?

I saw that too. News statement from Steve Saleen:

"If any Saleen customer in the United States who purchased a Saleen Inc. product up until February 2, 2009, has a warranty claim, they can directly contact my new company, SMS Supercars. We will honor their remaining warranties as if they were SMS Supercars warranties."

I believe that this is soley in reference to his supercars (i.e. S7's, etc.). I don't think it applies to the Mustangs produced or their aftermarket parts (which are still honored by SMS as far as I can tell).

He says ANY Saleen customer who purchased a product in the U.S. prior to Feb 2, 2009:

I literally bought my Saleen SS from Brenspeed on 1/31/09, so you can imagine the thoughts going thru my mind when the new owners announced no support for purchases before 2/1/09. Although it was a self install, so not really sure I have any warranty anyway...

On a side note, I keep losing/breaking these little plastic deal that holds the back of the shakers lid in place, and called Saleen and they are shipping some out to me, no questions asked. but I imagine they cost about $.05 each LOL.

Black - Thanks for the link, I had read a report that made it sound like SMS was only going to honor the Supercar Warranty's. Good for him for stepping up!

Wow... that was a close shave. I was thisclose to buying a white 2008 SC 281 on February 12th! Went Roush 427R instead.

Imagine - $48,000 in the hole and no factory warranty... ouch.
