It would do nothing for you to put a dual 3in exhaust system on your car. Maybe if you were running a 400+ cubic inch motor making about 500 or more horsepower. The stock size exhaust is perfect for the car stock and will support plenty of future mods...even Forced Induction.

THat aside, I can't imagine where you would fit a dual 3in system under the car especially if you decided to do suspension work.

Well, I think I've talked myself out of the 3". Can I swap out the headers and mid pipe and leave the rest of the exhaust stock or is the stock muffler too restrictive?

haha it's alright. guess not many people read the thread i made on my gains... just in case you missed it

i had my stock manifolds and o/r prochamber in the before runs so it should be about the same amount of gains for you as they were for me. i'm sure you'll gain power off the LT's, more tq than hp which is good imo.

If your after a good axle back maintaining good back pressure the GTA's are pretty decent muff. But Ford has really jacked up their prices on all their axle backs.

Unless you plan on making big power I would stay away from the 3" exhaust. Just replace your headers, midpipe, and mufflers. It does help if you can remove the cats, but thats not street legal. Either are LT though.

OK, so I've done a lot of think about what I would like to do withe the exhaust on my car. I'm thinking of some Kooks LTs, with an off-road H pipe (probably Kooks also). Then I was planning on adding some resonators to keep the sound clean, and I would keep the stock mufflers to keep the whole setup relatively quiet while driving at night and such.

The one main thing I'm exited about now is the possibility of adding an Electric Exhaust Cutout Valve. Anyone see any problem with adding these? And if I do where in the exhaust setup should they go?

Get this system man!! My fav video on youtube of a S197 exhaust!!
Later on down the road i may get this system!!
As far as the cutouts i think people mount them right after the headers!!
I'm not sure though so someone else chime in and correct me if i'm wrong!!

dont get the cutouts they wont help in performance and they sound awful.
wait on the resonators until you put your system in and decide after that, you may like it w/out the resonators.
the stock mufflers flow very well, see how you like it w/ the stock mufflers and go from there. it would be a waste to get aftermarket muffler only to find out you like the stockers better.
i think the kooks LT's, o/r h pipe and stock mufflers would sound pretty good!

From what I've heard, the off-road H sounds bad without resonators and I was planning on using the cutouts after the H at a switch activated cat back just for sound. I might be completely crazy, but I think that would be pretty cool.

Default and... back with vids

OK, its been a while. I installed Kooks some LTs and off-road H about a month ago (9 long hours of fun) and have been loving the sound. Still with stock mufflers, I'm pretty happy with the sound. Its got a deeper rumble right up to 2500 RPM then starts to scream. It it a little raspy but doesn't bother me too much.

I'm planning on getting some electric exhaust cutouts as soon I feel like spending the money, but in the mean time I decided to see what the car would sound like totally uncorked. Although the very loud car managed to put a big smile on my face, its very raspy and something needs to be done.

I'm thinking of adding some resonators right after the H pipe right before the exhaust cutouts I'm gonna install. Thoughts...
