Default My clutch disk sized to the pressure plate! WTF

My clutch disk sized to the pressure plate! WTF

Its a spec 2 on a 2007 gt.

Just got done dropping the trans to find out why I could not get in to gear with the engine running.

I found out!

Of course spec did not respond to any emails.
Has this happened to any one else?

Not sure if im right but I thought I heard someone on here, or some mustang forum say that the spec 2 clutches arent good and either go 2+ or higher. Not sure what the reason was, just for some reason I remember that.

the 2+ is the one people have had issues with. I have a stage 2 and it works great.

Seized to the flywheel? Did the pressure plate break or maybe the TOB? Did you try to remove it and can't get the disc off the flywheel?

Whoops, just saw you said seized to the pressure plate. I have had no trouble with mine and i've done a few hard launches at the track. Do you have a spec flywheel or stock?

Thumbs down

This was with a spec aluminum flywheel.

Any idea what would have caused this.

It did not happen over night either. Every once in a while there would be a loud pop when starting the car and if I did not have the brakes applied it would some times lurch forward.

I see now what was happening! Last week it did not separate at all and had to start the car in gear and go!

It has been on about a year. Has any one had dealings with spec warranty? Still no response to my email.

AmericanSpeed had a slew of problems with the Spec clutches. You might wanna ask him what some of his problems were.

Start and go? So you can shift gears?

You've all ready pulled the transmission right? Pics?

That sucks! Only thing I can say is "Welcome to the world of Specs" Pull the trans and throw that thing in the trash.

As moose said most problems are with the Specs II+, but hearing that you have issues does not surprise me.

I can only speculate why the disc would seize to the pressure plate. If the disc was not sliding freely on the shaft, then that may cause your problem. I've really never heard of any seizing

Are you sure it's not a 2+? He,he.

The 3+ seems to be the best spec you can buy, very few problems with that one.

Wouldn't surprise me if Specs started re-labling the specs II+ as Specs II, just to unload those POS's.

Did you ever smell the clutch before this? No warnings what so ever?? It almost had to get hot for it to stick to the plate.
Post some pics, hopefully somethin obvious will show up.

Classes are almost over for me so I'll have enough free time to install my Spec 2 soon.
Keep us posted
